Through the years, the look of the store has changed, but the time-honored traditions have remained the same.  Today, Schreiner, Co., is open for business in downtown Kerrville, located next door to The Hill Country Museum.

On December 24, 1869, Captain Charles Schreiner opened a country store in Kerrville, Texas.  The store as it looked at the time of its opening is pictured below.

Over the years, Schreiner, Co., has spread from a hut of cypress slabs into many fields of human enterprise - milling, banking, wool-marketing, trail driving, ranching, civic improvement and philanthropy.  But more than an account of success by the exacting standards of the balance sheets, and more than the story of the spread of a business enterprise through the entire fabric of this region's economy, Schreiner, Co., is the story of the land and the life of the Hill Country of Texas.  For a more in-depth, historical look at Schreiner, Co.,  you may purchase a copy of "Charles Schreiner General Merchandise" at The Hill Country Museum.
